OMGWTFBBQ - Intuit buys Homestead
Crazy day here at Homestead! Justin just announced that Intuit has agreed to buy Homestead for $170mn. The merger isn't complete yet, but if things go well, we will be Intuit employees starting early January.

Justin has more info on his blog.

I'm very excited by this, it's just so large that it hasn't really sunk in yet. Congrats to Justin, Thai, John, and everyone who's been working on the merger. Great work guys!

Thanks! It's pretty insane. I don't think it will change day-to-day ops in the near future, but we have apparently "been given enough rope to hang ourselves," to quote my VP. :)

Congrats!

Also, are you still allowed to say OMGWTFBBQ?

I'll be damned if we give up our Homestead tradition of swearing and general foul-mouthed camaraderie. We'll have to wait to see what the new HR docs say. :)

also, intuit has a great tradition for being a user centered company with a CEO who really cares about doing *good* business. you deserve each other. except for that little marketing software episode. :)

Haha, thanks. :) Everything I've heard about Intuit so far has been positive... there's trepidation about merging with such a large company, but at least we're joining one with similar values.

Brad Smith (soon-to-be Intuit CEO) was in the office, and he seems to be a genuinely nice guy (though maybe it's just the West Virginia accent). If he is honest about not wanting to "lose the magic," our chances are good. Homestead has always been founded on great people, and as long as we still have those people, Homestead will remain strong.

P.S. I take no blame for the marketing campaigns or the dialer.
P.P.S. I may have participated in some 'targeted' emails.
